Nestled In His Wings

“He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalm 91:4 (NLT)

Have you ever watched a hen with her chicks? The little chicks follow their mother everywhere she goes as she leads them all over the barnyard showing them where to find food for their nourishment as she cautiously watches over them. The little chicks do not wonder off from their mother’s watchful eye. Whenever the mother hen thinks there may be danger lurking she will lift up her wings and the little chicks all come running for cover under the protection of their mother’s wings. With her wings she also shields them from the elements of weather such as rain, wind, cold and heat.

Years ago I had slept in a feather bed at a friend’s house. It was one of the most comfortable night’s sleeps I had ever had. I felt protected from all sides because the bed had engulfed my body and made me feel safe, secure and warm from the cold night air. I slept peacefully and secure all nestled in the feathers of that old bed.

The Word of God tells us that our Lord is like a bird or hen that protects and watches over her chicks. When life’s elements start attacking me such as; pain, depression, chronic illness, marital or family problems, financial troubles or sometimes just the daily struggles of life itself; I am to run under the protective wings of my God and Savior, nestling myself in His sheltering feathers allowing His faithful promises to become my armor and my protection.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word and faithful promises that you have given to me as part of my daily armor. May I always find peace, comfort, and protection under your sheltering wings. Amen.

I am so sorry you haven't been feeling good. I have a garlic tea recipe on my blog that will kick anything out. It doesn't taste as bad as it sounds. I sure do hope you feel better soon. Prayers going up for you.

Michelle,

I am so sorry you are all so sick.

I pray you are feeling better soon!

I love that photo -very powerful visual. I sometimes lay curled on the floor as if He is holding me nuzzled in His arms and pray. The power of the feeling that often comes while there is a beautiful thing - one I imagine each of our children feel when they ask me or Daddy to please hold them for a little while.

In His amazing grace,
Jill

I'm praying for you this afternoon.

That is such a lovely comparison to use the feather bed. I've never slept on one.
