In Other Words Tuesday, Shortybear writes:
“People, we need to wake up. Christmas is not about how many gifts you can give or how many you can receive. It is about the most precious gift ever given to this world, Jesus. Our focus needs to be totally upon Him. If you want to give a priceless gift this year, a gift that keeps on giving, give the gift of Jesus, and His love. Talk to people about Jesus; share the dear Gospel with them. Help lead them to the bright morning star, Jesus. The sweetest gift is the one that comes straight from your heart, not a shopping mall. Jesus, and His precious love, far outweigh, any amount of money that you could ever spend.”
This is so true! I must admit though, my husband and I were out on Friday and Saturday doing a little shopping but we did not go early when the “crowds” were heaviest.
Denise is right, the greatest gift you can give anyone is Jesus. Why? Because He is God’s Greatest Gift to us!
Romans 5:15 - And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness. For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin. But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift.
Romans 5:16 - And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but we have the free gift of being accepted by God, even though we are guilty of many sins.
Romans 5:17 - The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over us, but all who receive God's wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
I love acrostics, so I made one for the word GIFT:
Grace -
- For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the Gift of God – not the result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
- But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by
grace you have been saved 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in
the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show
the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-7
Faith -
- Romans 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have
peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 5:2 - Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory.
- Col 3:16 - Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you
wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
God’s Gift:
Grace so
Immeasurable through
Faith makes us truly
Thankful
This Christmas, instead of worrying about giving the right gift to a loved one, let us share the greatest Gift anyone can ever receive - JESUS – after all, it is the day we celebrate His birth. What greater gift we can give Jesus than to share His Good News with others!

This really touched me, thank you my friend. I love you.
Beautifully written!
Awesome acrostic! Love it! Words to live by!
That is awesome!
Michelle---I LOVED that! I think you and I were on the same page! I popped over here after I hit publish (mine was from my archives---last year!--I have been so bogged down with stuff---I thought I'd start the week out with a re-run!)
Have a BLESSED week! I LOVE the look of Christmas on your blog!
I love the acrostic. That is the heart of the season and what we do. How much happier the world would be if more people realized the gift we've been given!
Good stuff from you and Denise.
Hoping to spread the good news of the gift to those around us this year.
Great post!
Hi sis! I'm back! AND we have the same wallpaper! Too funny. I'll come back to read some more later. I've got to get to the post office and grocery store yet.
Love you.
This is really special. I'd like to copy it. The G-I-F-T acrostic is excellent.
I've NEVER appreciated the analogy of "wise men brought gifts and that's why we exchange gifts." HOW Shallow IS THAT!!????
God's ultimate sacrificial gift is #1 immeasurable #2 too incredible for us to EVER fully comprehend in our flesh and #3 NOT something we can copy on ANY level.
Wonderful post - it would make a great sermon outline!!!!
:-)
Blessing to you and yours!
