Happy New Year Glitter Pictures
This is the time of the year that most of us reflect on the past year and look ahead or plan ahead for the New Year. For me, I am going to think like Paul as he wrote to the church in Philippians 3:13 “No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” None of us truly know our future here on earth, but I do know what lies ahead for me…. Heaven! Don’t know when, but I do know that is my future home! Praise the Lord! But I do know one thing, if I focus on, “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. “(Philippians 4:8), and I “keep putting into practice all you (I) learned from me (Paul – or God) and heard from me (Paul – or God) and saw me (Paul or God) doing, and the God of peace will be with you (me).”
What we put into our mind determines what comes out in our words and actions. We need to read God’s Word and pray and ask God to help us focus our minds on what is good and pure. It takes practice, but it can be done. It’s not enough to hear or read the Word of God or even to know it well. We must also put it into practice. How easy it is to listen to a sermon and forget what the preacher said. How easy it is to read the Bible and not think about how to live differently. How easy it is to debate what a passage means and not live out the meaning. Exposure to God’s Word is not enough. It must lead to obedience.
According to the above scriptures, if I put into practice to focus my mind on what is good and pure, and diligently practice to know and live God’s Word, then His peace will guard my heart and mind as I live in Christ Jesus. God’s peace will live in me. This does not mean I will not have any sorrow, sickness, or tribulations in 2009. Although this would be wonderful! It means that I will have God’s peace in me no matter what happens in 2009. Good or bad, God’s perfect peace will live in me and through me – no matter what 2009 brings.
What do I look forward to in 2009? To know and live God’s Word out loud so I can have God’s marvelous, comforting, unwavering peace within me!
I do want to thank some people that have made 2008 bearable for me:
