Prayer Request

Today, Wednesday, July 15th, I had what I thought would be a routine mammogram. Two and a half hours later, after further tests, I leave the Breast Center scheduled for a biopsy to be done next Wednesday, July 22nd at 12:30pm (pac time).

Three years ago the doctor had removed a cluster of Microcalcifications which are specks of calcium that may be found in an area of rapidly dividing cells. The residue left by rapidly dividing cells can appear as microcalcifications. When many are seen in a cluster, they may indicate a small cancer. About half the cancers detected appear as these clusters. Most breast calcifications are benign. The term microcalcification is often used for calcifications found with malignancy, which are usually smaller, more numerous, clustered, and variously shaped (rods, branches, teardrops). Calcifications associated with benign conditions are usually larger, fewer in number, widely dispersed, and round. In the middle are hard-to-tell calcifications which are often labeled indeterminate. http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/761/main.html (you can read more about this by clicking on the site above.

Their concern is that the clusters have returned and multiplied even faster and more. So my prayer of course is that it is still benign, and they will be able to remove all the clusters.

I also have another prayer and request. DO NOT DELAY YOUR MAMMOGRAMS! Shamefully it has been almost two years since my last mammogram. I am suppose to get a mammogram every 6 months. So please, if anything positive can come out of this, please get your mammograms if you are due!

Thank you for your prayer. God bless you all.

I am joining you in prayer too. I had "the supremes" (that just cracks me up) checked just last week and sonogrammed too. It's an annual event and I'm not even 40 yet. I'm thankful for such a wonderful doctor. May the peace that passes all understanding guard your heart and your mind!
