I can't believe it's been two weeks since I have posted! I really need to get back on track with everything. Lately I have lost my "zest" for life. That's not me, I know - but I have allowed my health issues and personal issues get the best of me and get me down in the dumps. I found myself once again depressed, with a lack of energy to do ANYTHING. In so doing, I have gained some of my weight back too. Once again, beating myself up! Do you ever beat yourself up whenever you fail?
“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.” Proverbs 24:16
Did you notice this Scripture does not say “the godly never trips?” It says that he will trip – fall – but notice what it says next; “but they will get up again!” God knows that we will fail once in a while in our earthly bodies, but He has given us the ability to “pick ourselves up and start all over again.” This is why He invites us to “confess our sins” (1 John 1:9) because “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” The Lord does not condemn us when we fail. God’s Word tells us, “there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). So the next time I am pulled into the cycle of beating myself up because once again I have failed, I must tell the enemy, Satan, “Get away Liar!” It is Satan who keeps putting failure into our heads – not Christ! Christ tells us to bring the sin/ failure to the cross and wipes the slate clean.
I am so thankful that because of Jesus, no failure is final. Whenever I fall, I will get up in the forgiveness and power of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
