Challenges - Opportunites For Growth

“To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

I woke up the other morning around 6:15 am. As I tried to return to sleep in my warm, cozy bed, I began to ponder upon family members (my own as well as extended family) who are suffering with various chronic illnesses and trials. I started to reflect how God has so graciously provided the hope and tender mercy they so desperately need to endure. This brought to mind my chronic health as well as other trials; am I living my life with the power and strength God give to each of us to endure such hardships and trials?

All too often I find myself giving into my problems. I need to view problems are opportunities in disguise. I need to accept my challenges by humbly letting go of my control and allow God to control my life as He teaches me how to turn my problems and adversities into opportunities for growth. Acceptance does not mean the pain and sorrow will go away or that you have given up, but it will make the journey a little easier. I cannot change my challenges, but I can change my perspective on the challenges and view them as opportunities to allow God to strengthen my faith and to glorify Him. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)

Thank you Heavenly Father for waking me up this morning in more ways than one. You opened my eyes once again to have a better mind set regarding my illnesses, trials, sorrows – life challenges. Lord I relinquish my life into your most capable and loving hands so you can continue to strengthen my faith so I can glorify You. In Jesus precious name, amen.

"I cannot change my challenges, but I can change my perspective on the challenges and view them as opportunities to allow God to strengthen my faith and to glorify Him." -- I love this, Michelle... something that I need reminded of almost daily. It is so easy to get bogged down in the challenges of life... why isn't it just as easy or as natural to just give God the control? Especially since it is always so much better when we let Him have control?
Thanks for the reminder.

Sometimes it seems to me like God uses our health issues to remind us of our mortality as a way of bringing us closer to him. Just a thought.
