Our Journey of Change - God Will Provide

Journey of Change –  God Will Provide

"Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing,  and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God." Genesis 28:20,21 NLT

I cannot believe it was late July since I last wrote about our Journey of Change.  To get caught up on our Journey please click here.

In my last Journey post I had written how we told our family and church that we were leaving Arizona to live in Pennsylvania – my “home” state.  I needed to leave a week ahead of our family so I could find RV trailers for both Jim and I and one for our daughter and her family.  These would become our homes for the next several years until we could find and afford other housing.  My husband, our daughter and family would be traveling like a caravan across country.  I must admit, as hard as my job of finding trailers that we could afford and having them delivered before my family arrived; I was quite relieved that I was not traveling via “caravan”.   I knew my husband, and I knew he would push hard to arrive in Pennsylvania even earlier than expected.

God, our awesome Provider had trailers we could afford already picked out for us. The one for Heather and family was delivered the day they arrived and ours would be ready about a week later.  It took a while for Karl (our son-in-law) to find employment but again God provided.

One never knows when they will need a little assistance from outside sources.  For the first time in our lives Jim and I found ourselves in need of government welfare especially regarding my health care.  It is an awkward situation.  Pride sits in at first and then shame; but that soon was removed when I talked with a Christian counselor at one of the agencies I received assistance.  She shared that there is no shame in asking for help.  She also s that said they have seen more working class people needing a little extra help each month because of the economy.  We must remember, God will supply and He will utilize various sources to do so.

Each month God would miraculously provide for each of our needs.  On paper when we would write out our budget we would be short each month of meeting our financial obligations, but by the end of each month bills were paid and needs were met!  God is our Provider.

People look at us strangely when we tell them we live in a 35 foot RV trailer.  But we are quite comfortable; we have all the luxuries of home, just a smaller version.   How can we beat the beautiful scenery we have as I gaze outside the window and see the beauty of God’s creation.  We have a lush carpet of green grass; trees with leaves beginning to change colors for the fall; a large pond with Canadian geese gracefully swimming across; and even the smell of the farm land that surrounds our campground.  How awesome is that? Yes, winters are cold – but we have heat and warm clothing.

Each month God continues to miraculously provide for each of our needs.  On paper we would be short each month of meeting our financial obligations, but by the end of each month bills are paid and needs are met!  God is our Provider.

Our gracious God in His infinite wisdom knows exactly what we need and He will provide those needs and once in a while He will throw in a “want” or two along the way to remind us how much He loves us and cares for us.

Stay tuned for more of our Journey.
