Do You Ever Feel Blue?

Do you ever feel  BLUE?  Our face may not actually look blue in color when we are feeling down, lost, lonely and depressed; but our faces can reveal how we feel.   I know that many times I will try to put on a “happy face” to try to hide how I truly feel, but those closest to me can see beyond the façade.  My husband has said that all the “make-up” I may put on my face and “fake” smiles cannot hide the pain he can see in my eyes.  As much as I may try to suppress my feelings, I cannot conceal them from my loved ones; especially the ONE who loves me and knows me more than I can ever imagine.

As the Psalmist cries out to the Lord in Psalm 25:16-17, “Turn to me and have mercy on me, because I am lonely and hurting. My troubles have grown larger; free me from my problems.”  (NCV); so does my heart cry out to Him when I am troubled and in pain.  Then in the deepest part of my heart I hear His gentle voice tenderly say, “… do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NIV).

Dear Lord, I am so thankful that I can cry out to You whenever I feel downtrodden, alone and in pain.  Remind me dear Lord that even in my darkest moments, You are with me always.  Amen.

This coming week I will share 12 Practical Tips To Finding and Staying Joyful Through The Storms of Life.  So come on back, have a cup of tea or hot cocoa as I share one or two tips a day.

“We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, …” Colossians 1:11 NLT

Yes, I've had the blues from time to time. Typically, it's been situational and not lasting indefinitely. I was actually on an anti-depressant but weaned off about one month ago. I'm feeling much better despite ongoing challenges. But I'm leaning heavily on the Lord.

Love you friend and thank you for your comments on Heart Choices. I'm glad you found a church that knows how to love one another in Jesus' name. And I'm sure you are enjoying fall weather. It rained very hard in Phoenix today with hail. Can you believe it?

Sometimes I feel blue and like you, I paste a smile on to cover it up. But in those times, coming to the Lord brings such comfort. He is always willing to encourage us whether our reasons for being blue are large or small. I've found that often, what I need to do is re-focus. I need to take my thoughts off of myself and onto the Lord. When my view changes, so does my mood. It's not always easy, in fact, most of the time it is difficult. But the Lord is faithful! He is always by our side!

Thanks for the encouraging post!

Yes, I have those times when the blues seem to overwhelm but I'm so grateful that even then I call upon Him and He hears me.

Great verses! I love the Psalms when I am feeling down. They remind me that I'm not the only who has ever felt that way. Plus they point me to the One who can restore the joy in my heart. Thanks for that great reminder today@ Happy WFW!

The minute you start feeling foul, don your exercise gear and hit the park for a round of jogging. Or just switch on the music and get moving..
