“If God sends us stony paths, He provides strong shoes.” Corrie Ten Boom
Have you ever walked on a stone road in your bare feet or shoes with insufficient soles? I know I have done both and my feet were all bruised and cut. Whatever the terrain may be when we decide to take a walk, we are to be prepared for what we may come across. I think about a Marine as he prepares to go on patrol. He does not put on sandals as he hikes the rough terrain; no, he wears rugged boots that will protect his feet for the long haul of the unknown that is ahead of him.
Today a dear friend will have surgery to remove a tumor on her upper spine along with removal of lymph nodes. This is a very extensive surgery which can leave her paralyzed. For at least a month or more this young wife and mother will be in a wheelchair.
Then on the 22nd of June my husband will have surgery on his lower spine to remove a “tumor/lesion”. The surgeon has said he has never seen anything like this “lesion” so he is anxious to get “in there” to see what exactly is going on in Jim’s spine.
Needless to say, our friends and families have been storming the gates of Heaven on their behalf. Even though Jim and our friend Erin are “traveling” on stony paths right now as their physical circumstances seem a bit scary because of the unknown, they have One big Known in common – they have stepped into the strong shoes of the All Knowing Great I AM - their Savoir, Jesus Christ because His grace IS truly sufficient for them.
If you too are walking through stony paths, my prayer is that you too will rest assured in His all sufficient Grace.
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
