Hebrews 6:18-20a (NLT) “So God has given us both his promise
and his oath. These two things are
unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge
can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promise with confidence. This confidence is like a strong and
trustworthy anchor for our souls. It
leads us through the curtain of heaven into Gods inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us.”
The other day as I was driving, I heard this song by Ryan
Stevenson for the first time. I instantly
turned up the sound when I heard him sing the words, “In the eye of the
storm”. My heart leapt and I started to
cry as the words of the song continued on.
I immediately started to think about my family (such as my sister, uncle
and cousins) and friends who are fighting cancer and other family members and
friends and me who are battling other physical, mental illnesses and other
personal struggles.
There are days when we feel as though the waves will
overtake us; that the battle is too great to fight any longer. But this song reminds me of God’s promises
that He is our refuge, He is our anchor, He has gone on before us and is
fighting the battle with us
and for us! We just need to hold on to His promises with
confidence that this too will make us stronger.
We must never give up the hope that is ours through Jesus Christ our
Lord who has already paved the road we are traveling.
Life is hard! God has never promised that the journey would
be easy – but as the Psalmist wrote in the 23rd Psalm, He has
promised He will be with us throughout our journey.
" The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He
maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his
name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy
staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely
goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in
the house of the Lord forever". (Psalm 23 KJV)
Praise the Lord!
Thank you Lord for fighting our battles!
We ARE on the winning side!
Amen!
